Life Through the Lens of My iPhone

Good morning! (Or evening, I suppose!) I looked through my iPhone and realized that I had a lot of neat photos and experiences that I’d like to note and remember for my future enjoyment. Plus, if you enjoy them too, that’s a lovely bonus! Winking smile

Here goes: Life though my iPhone as of late!

IMG_2971

This is one of my clients from work! SHE IS SO AWESOME! Always smiling, always happy, and I LOVE when she comes in to visit! She had just gotten her brand new Jeep Wrangler (My dream car at the moment!) and I was so excited for her I told her I had to get a pic of her next to her sweet new ride!! This woman is so awesome! I Swear she’s my soul sister! I love her style, I love her spirit, and we have so much in common!! Plus she’s a long time vegetarian! Bonus!

She’s so rockin’!

IMG_2973

This is a photo of me hangin’ outside on side of the building I work in! I take my 30 minute lunch break out here on the reg to try and escape the phones and breathe some fresh air! I love soaking in those rays! I guess I was trying to take a sexy photo of my dress and  boots (look at those knees, man those are smokin’ hahaa! What was I thinking?!)! I wish I have gotten the beautiful tree I sit under and the tiny cross bridge they have over the ditch…

IMG_2990

I’ve been blogging a lot lately and my new fav place to do it is at random coffee shops and bookstores. Its usually quiet enough with some relaxing music and fabulous aromas. I had a gift card for $25 worth of Starbucks so its been my go-to lately, but I’m also a fan on PJ’s (It’s the closest to my house that stays open until 10pm). Must have taken a quickie pic!

IMG_3009This is a snapshot of a scene from one of my favorite movies, . I love everything about this movie! The imagery is incredible and every time I watch this movie I am memorized by the intensity and the beauty. I stumbled across this particular photo and saved it on my iPhone. Every time I see it, I get this feeling in my gut. Can you imagine, having that incredible cosmic connection? This bond between 2 people? Can’t you just feel the powerful vibration coming from this scene? I know its just a movie, but what is represents, is just… wow… (::Blush:: Can you tell I’m one of those hopeless romantic types? hehe! I just love to dream about this mushy gushy love stuff!)

IMG_3022

So I bought this “Bliss in a Box: Weekend Retreat” almost 3 years ago and had yet to actually do it! I stumbled upon it while organizing my massive book collection and decided its about time I give it a go. IT WAS AMAZING!! Yoga, Meditation, Silence, Contemplation, Reflection, and Pure Healthy Eating! Amazing weekend! I’ll elaborate on it more a bit later (in another post, I hope).

IMG_3046

The Dirty Dozen and The Clean Fifteen!! This is a snapshot from my favorite book at the moment, Crazy Sexy Diet, on the 12 fruits and veggies to avoid unless organic (due to the high amounts of pesticides and chemical contamination) and the 15 fruits and veggies that are ok to purchase conventional if you can’t find organic (as very little chemicals and pesticides are used). For 3 days straight I was singing out the Dirty Dozen trying to get those suckers memorized! It was actually pretty easy! I just have to remember to think about it while I’m grocery shopping, which isn’t always so easy…

Just LOOK how adorable my mom can be!

IMG_3058IMG_3059

Seriously, how can this NOT make your day instantly sun-shiny and bright. This was just SO cute I have to screen shot the convo and send it to a few friends to make their day a little better.

IMG_3065

This is a shot of my new gorgeous plants all wilted and sad!! Apparently if you don’t water your flowers for 5 days in LA weather, they get quite sad. Lol!! BUT I watered them and within a few hours they were bright and happy and radiating love bubbles for the world to enjoy!! Ahh! the beauty of Mother Nature!

IMG_3075

This is just a picture of me playing around with new tiny tat ideas. This says “ily” which represents: I Love You. I’m a huge fan of showing love for yourself and sometimes a little reminder can go a long way. If you don’t love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to fully love and appreciate you..? Its not like other people just fill in the missing love gaps. Like I told a friend the other day “You are a complete, whole person, and you don’t need anyone to complete you. You love yourself fully then other people that love you are bonus! Cup over flowing kinda thing! You fill your own cup and everything thing else that people add too it just oozes out over the brim, spilling happiness over-flowage for everyone else to enjoy! “Oh, I’m sorry, did my love over flow just spill on you? Oh, Whoops! Oh, is that some of my happiness splashing on you?! Oh man! Whoops again!”  Winking smile hehehehe, I’m such a love nerd.

IMG_3089

That’s Dita. My cousin won tickets to her show here in New Orleans… If you don’t know who she is, just look her up! She’s amazing. She does burlesque shows, but they are more retro and old schooly with a tiny bit of a modern edge. She’s very tasteful in her art. And very very famous! Really, Look her up! You wont be disappointed. She’s beautiful.

Apparently I missed a good show!

IMG_3102

I went blueberry picking one last time for the season! One gallon on Organic blueberries, $10! You pick your own! Amazing! I went with my mom and dad! They had a really great time as well! And there is nothing like a fresh, right off the bush, blueberry! OMG Fantastic!

And lastly! Primping for Remie’s wedding! That’s a photo of my practicing my hair for Remie’s big day! The next 2 shots are from Remie, Erin and I going to get our mani/pedis done. Can you believe both Erin and I have never had a pedicure!? 25 years old, and never had one! The employees couldn’t believe that either. It was fabulous!!

IMG_3129IMG_3130IMG_3134

Well, That’s it for now! Life through the lens of my iPhone! Hope you enjoyed it!! I had fun! Happy Love Bubbles to You!!

Today I am Thankful for…

There is a special person in my life that I want to recognize here in this personal space of mine, that I feel deserves a shout out because of all the amazing accomplishments he’s achieved. He’s such a beautiful soul and an amazing ball of radiant energy and we have shared many many hours of laughter and happiness, especially in the past couple of weeks. He’s brought an immense amount of joy into my life and I’m so proud of all his effort and hard work. I love this person dearly.

IMG_0877

I don’t think I’ve met anyone with a kinder heart and with a greater gift of bringing joy to so many others. He’s been my best friend for the past four years, and in those years I have grown so much with the help of his constant support and encouragement. He’s never passed judgment with all of the absolute crazy things I have done and ideas that I have had.

His dedication to goals are admirable and I believe that he will accomplish all that he sets his mind too. I’m so proud of him for choosing to make such a drastic change in his life, including eating more healthfully, cooperating meditation and yoga into his routine, and enjoying the beauty in simplicity. I’m proud of the way he has been able to take something he loves so much and put it to the side, to carve out time and put effort into trying something so foreign to him, and embrace it with open arms.IMG_0896

He has taken the meaning of commitment to another level by relying on his ability to create his own personally compatible concoctions, like wheat blueberry pancakes, and even taking that extra little step to purchase the cruelty free butter alternative (::the little things mean so much::)! AND! By also taking note of recipes that he can easily incorporate into his own life with little distress or frustration. What a smart cookie!

IMG_3053IMG_3054IMG_3055

He is an excellent cook and is unafraid of trying something new and completely outside of his comfort zone. I’ve introduced him to every foreign food I could possibly get my hands on and he accepts the experience happily and with great curiosity and excitement. He jumps into experimenting with unique and strangely foreign ideas as if fear was a concept never incorporated into his life and never introduced to his vocabulary. This can be said with everything he has ever attempted, as he takes life head on and never gives himself the option to fail. From sports to computers and technology he has always been on top of his game and far exceeding everyone’s expectations.

He succeeds in everything he’s ever chosen to do and I don’t have a smidgen of doubt that he will accomplish everything he wishes to achieve.

IMG_0956IMG_0960

I’ve managed to go into a little bit of a rant here, but I really believe in this person and I know he can stick to his goals of changing his life in a healthier and kinder direction. He means the world to me. I’m so proud of him, especially with all the effort he’s been putting into our personal relationship lately.

 IMG_0884IMG_3031IMG_0875IMG_0932IMG_0919IMG_0916IMG_0886IMG_0914

I miss him when he’s gone (and so do his pups!). I love having him around to share water in glass jars with neat straws, or to grow wheatgrass with (or rather helping to fix my errors), and also for picking new plants and hammocks to help me have a more relaxing and enjoyable outside space. I love conducting symphonies with him in his car, and having him laugh at me (while I continue to conduct my orchestra while everyone at the 4-way stop light watches and wonders what is going on with the crazy girl in the car, hehe! Fun!). I love that he laughs at my craziness and thinks it’s a remarkable and quite desirable quality rather than an slightly annoying or immature. I love that we can crank up singing lessons in the car and belt it all out at the top of our lungs and with all our breath and energy and still think the other is the coolest kid on the block! I love that we can play! Always play! As play is so important in my life. And so is he.

I cant imagine my life if I had never met this wonderful being. I’m sure that I wouldn’t be the person that I am today, the person I’ve finally learned to love and accept, because I had someone so loving and accepting to show me that it was ok to be me.

Thank you so much, Daniel, for being exactly who you are and for loving me for exactly who I am and for helping me bloom.

 IMG_0217

I love you more than words could ever express.

Origami Sun Catchers!

PLAY IS MY FVORITE PART OF EACH DAY!!!

IMG_0966

I got myself an Origami Sun Catcher kit from Barnes and Noble a couple days back and thought it was the perfect moment to pull it out and play! It was about 9pm and I had just gotten done cooking the most delicious meal of Thai Curry with Daniel and we were kicking back with our Blue-Moons and Orange slices. It was relaxing and we had full bellies and nice little Blue-Moon buzzes… why not throw in some origami? YAY!

IMG_0963

We set up our little craft stations (2 tiny fold out tables I had), cranked up the tunes (I was craving a little Bone Thugs but for some reason it was o longer on my iPod?! Ek!! So we listened to Weird Al – White and Nerdy instead!), and started busting out the creativity!

I was busy busy cutting and pasting, folding and flipping…

when I looked down to find this sweet face looking up at me!!

IMG_0969

TIME OUT!

I just had to take a snuggle kissy break!

IMG_0973IMG_0989

You can totally tell she loves getting mommy kisses and snuggles! In love

(I know she LOOKS like she’s quite terrified in this picture, but on the inside I just KNOW she was screaming ILOVEMYMOMMY! Or so I like to believe. hehehehe)

But, anyway…!

Check it out!! A little bit of this… and a little bit off that…

IMG_0991IMG_0995

And you get THIS!! How cool is that?!

IMG_0996IMG_0999

I cant wait to get some tape so I can put some of these up on my windows! I have enough of these special papers to whip out 28 of these beauties! My house is going to be bright and colorful and shooting out all kinds of happy beams all over the place!

I LOVE THESE!!

Lafayette for Erin’s Birthday

I’m just going to say this right off the bat, so you are not entirely confused, that this is going to be the most random photo collection ever! Lol! For some reason that night I was a little less free wielding with my camera (probably had a little something to do with not wanting to freak out the 25+ people I didn’t know that were there to celebrate Erin’s birthday, lol!). So, because of that, I only took photos of a few random moments that I didn’t want to miss or forget.

First stop of the night, TATTOOS! Birthday tats for Erin and her friend Matt (I think I heard him mention it was his birthday too, but I might have misheard that…)! The shop we went to was pretty sweet. Lots of zen inspired interior, I think I might have counted 4 Buddha’s hanging around the joint. This one made me extra smiley. :)

IMG_0464

Erin went first, getting the Hindu elephant god, Ganesha – the Remover of Obstacles, on her mid-upper back. I loved that she had sketched this off of a print up of a statue of him. She did a great job! Her friend Matt also got a tat that he had sketched up, I think from his own imagination, that said “ZOMBIES Hate Fast Food” complete with some dude running from a group of the living dead, circling his right (I think) calf. I really enjoyed his design, I’d never seen it before and it literally made me laugh out loud when I first saw it! :)

IMG_0475IMG_0472

While Erin and Matt were getting their tats finished up, Remie, Amber and I were off getting lost on a little adventure through Erin’s neighborhood. I’m so glad Amber came for the ride and spotted Erin’s house, because it seems Remie and I have no sense of direction and no fear of being lost in the sort-of-ghetto-ish area. Lol, BUT while running around the maze of a neighborhood we spotted the funniest thing! A 9FT TALL METAL ELEPHANT on someone’s front lawn!! Woahahaha! The three of us were highly entertained, so much so that we stopped in the middle of the street laughing our asses off to snap a bunch of pics real quick. When all of the sudden (I swear we were only stopped for a few seconds) this lady comes out of the front door and yells out to us, “Do you like my elephant?!” And Remie, being the sweetie that she is, smiled really huge and yelled back, “YES! WE LOVE IT!” The lady must get this all the time, because she jumped right into explaining why she has such an interesting piece of art in front of her home. Something about being in the military, and metal, and loving elephants, and that her neighbors think that she’s nuts for having it. Lol! It all didn’t make much sense to me, but oh well, she seemed to think it was a good enough explanation to keep this thing out in her yard, soooo… Lol! We smiled and told her we loved it and thanked her for letting us take some pictures, and she quickly headed back inside. Maybe to wait for the next car to stop by so she can hop back out and explain her story again, I swear she was waiting for that. She just popped out of her house so quickly when we stopped. haha!

IMG_0465IMG_0466

So Amber finally spotted Erin’s house and when we got in, we were greeted by the cutest dog! He was so sweet and really excited to have new visitors! So much so that it seemed he lost control of the rear half of his body. That thing was just wiggling and wagging all over the place! haha! it was adorable.

 IMG_0467

Anyway, we quickly got dressed and headed off for sushi where we met up with a HUGE group of people there to help Erin celebrate her birthday. I only snapped one clear photo of Erin, and one photo of my martini! OMG< this thing was the best martini ever! lol! Lychee Martini?! I’d never heard of it but Remie raved about it so I had to try! I actually wound up ordering 2, this thing was so tasty! TRY IT if you ever get the opportunity!

IMG_0468IMG_0469

I also snapped a quick pic of the instructions on my chop sticks, because it made me giggle. I always thought I held them wrong, but apparently this package says I’m a pro. Sweet!

photo(12)photo(13)

Sushi was good and company was interesting, and we had a good time.

After the sushi, we headed to Wally World to get Erin and Matt some lotion for their new tats and while I was there I spotted the coolest pjs ever!!! I just couldn’t resist!! I LOVED ninja turtle as a little girl! It didn’t take much convincing for me to talk myself into NEEDING these! Thanks, Remie, for snapping a photo of me at the check out! lol! Winking smile

photo(15)photo(16)

Last stop for Remie and I before heading back to BR, was the Rabbit Hole. We had a few drinks and chatted a bit and took a few photos. Remie and I called it a night because it would be at least an hour drive back home (2 for her, ek!). Before we left we got a few pics. My favorite being the last! Winking smile PHOTO BOMB!! Amber, you rock! hahahaha!

photo(17)photo(18)photo(19)

So it wound up being a pretty great night! I’m glad I got to help celebrate Erin’s 26th birthday and meet a few new kickass peeps! Fun!

Thanks for the invite Erin!! Happy Birthday!!

Five Guys! Cheap and Tasty!

Finally went to Five Guys! I’ve heard so much hype and praise over this place so I decided I’d see what everyone has been hooping and and hollering about. And I was not disappointed! This place was everything everyone told me it would be, and then some! You walk in and what do you see on the menu?! “ALL TOPPINGS ARE FREE!” Whhhaaaaaatt?!

And what else?! The veggie burger is only $2.29!! NO WAY!!!

IMG_0534IMG_0535

So I ordered the veggie burger with ALL THE TOPPINGS (FREE!), minus the mayo and add A1!

Man O’ Man was I excited! And these burgers aren’t fast food quality either, its the real deal! Sesame seed buns, freshly made ingredients, and foods prepped that morning before opening! I’m totally not a burger joint kind of gal, but boy, this had me impressed! (But to be honest, I think I was a little swayed by the price of my meal… Less than $3!!! Wowie-zow!)

Another big thing with Five guys is the peanuts! You walk in and there are huge sacks of pounds and pounds of peanuts, free for you to grab and snack on while you wait! What an interesting way to stand out from the many many other burgers joints! Works for me (and the other 40+ people in this building, this place was PACKED!)!!

IMG_0530IMG_0536

They called our number in less than 5 minutes (which went by in a snap because I was so busy chowing down on the peanuts) and I grabbed the food and dug in! Look at that receipt! $10 to feed 2 adults a decent meal AND have food left over that we just couldn’t finish! Wow, nice!

IMG_0537IMG_0544IMG_0545IMG_0546

My burger had tons of mushrooms and onions, lettuce and tomatoes, and sauces galore! This puppy was stuffed and flavorful! Hit the spot! Not only that but the regular order of the fries as humongous!! Its like they gave you a half gallon bag FULL of fries!! I was excited at the time because we got all this food for barely any cost to our pocket books! (But, man, this place is everything that is wrong with the health problems of Americans today… tons of greasy food in heaping amounts for a fraction of the cost! but lets not get into that in this post… lol!)

But YES!! I WILL be going to Five Guys again! On that rare occasion that I DO crave a nice sloppy burger (veggie, of course!) Five Guys will be the place I’ll run off too!

Way to go, Five Guys! Its not easy penetrating the burger joint market successfully! Nailed it!

::High Fives for Five Guys:: hehehehehe!!!!

And Now for Melanie’s Amazing Punch!

IMG_0266

Melanie’s Punch was a huge hit at the party! I wanted to share (and remember) how to make this  because it was so easy and delicious!

Here’s the “How To”

IMG_0262 IMG_0264

1. Cut up and juice an entire sack of lemons! (Or for the second batch we actually used 2 of those artificial lemon juice bottles and it was just as tasty!)

2. Slice 2 large oranges and place in the bowl for decoration! Squeeze the juice out of the end pieces of the oranges and toss those in the garbage.

IMG_0263 IMG_0265

3. Slice up a crate of strawberries and add to the mixture for a nice splash of color

4. Open a large can of the pineapple chunks and put the entire thing, juice and all, in the bowl

IMG_0267 IMG_0271

5. This is the best part! In goes 1 large bottle of Moscato white wine, 2 bottles of champagne, and 1/2 cup of Triple Sec! Yowza!! Recipe for a Grand Ol’ Time!

IMG_0278

Stir and Enjoy!

Remie’s Wedding Shower!

My Remie-Girl is getting MARRIED in a month!! Eeeeee, we’re all so excited!!!!

Me and the other 2 ladies in the wedding party, Amber and Erin, got together and planned a sweet little wedding shower for our Lovely Bride-To-Be so she could be showered in gifts and have her family and friends come and share some well wishes and show her some lovin’!

IMG_0324 IMG_0326

We held the shower at Amber’s, which I’m so glad Amber offered to host the shower there because it was such a perfect space! She has such a beautiful home and she did a great job with all the decorations and with making her house the most comfortable and cozy place for visitors to relax. Loved it!! (Thanks Amber!! Really appreciated it!)

We had tons of food as everyone pitched in with bringing a dish or two! We had this amazing spiked punch that Melanie brought, we had 7 layer dip from Remie’s boss Kelly, Mrs. Tammy brought finger sandwiches, Erin’s homemade salsa and hummus, and also Remie’s mother Sach made pasta salad, tiny coffee cakes, and this corn dip that I NEED to get the recipe for (I could have eaten the entire bowl by myself)! I also I made my artichoke casserole dish that everyone seems to  love and I brought my chocolate covered strawberries! Everything was delicious!

IMG_0278 IMG_0277IMG_0273

…and LOOK AT HER CAKE

IMG_0329 IMG_0283

Remie was so surprised! I tried to capture her expression when she first spotted the cake, it was priceless!

Erin created this piece of art just by looking at the place setters Remie had picked out for the wedding! Little tiny cards! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! Girls got talent! Wowza!.

IMG_0330

So everyone arrived on time and Remie was the perfect little bride-to-be! She greeted and smiled  and mingled, you couldn’t even tell that she might have been nervous! She was a natural!

IMG_0280IMG_0281IMG_0327IMG_0308

People chowed down and drank and chatted it up, with most of us hovering over the punch bowl. It was fun to see some of remie’s friends that I hadn’t seen in quite some time and also meet some new people I’d never met. All of her friends and family are such sweet people!

~*~*~*~

Having 3 bridesmaids that have never held a wedding shower before I was so grateful when Remie’s boss Kelly nudged me at one point and said “Presents?” I should have gotten the cue when all the girls started sitting in the chairs in a big circle but I was a little pre-occupied with filling the second batch of punch (everyone emptied that huge bowl in less than 20 minutes)!

WooHoo! Present time!

IMG_0294IMG_0307IMG_0295IMG_0304IMG_0303IMG_0317

Erin scribbled down the gifts and who gave what to who, Amber passed the gifts to Remie and took the wrapping, and I was in charge of pictures! It was a great time! I especially enjoyed seeing Remie’s reactions to each gift! If she got an ok gift, you couldn’t tell because she played it all off like a pro!

~*~*~*~*~*~

This next part (down below) was one of my favorite moments of the shower!

Remie was opening one of the last gifts which happened to be a present from her mother when all the sudden you hear her saying,

“UUUHHHH… What is this…?

oooooh my GAAAWWWD!! MOOOOOOOOOM!!

THIS IS EMBARASSING!

::giggle giggle::

MOOOOOM!! YOU”RE NOT SUPPOSE TO GET ME THIS!!

::more giggles and laughter from the entire room!::

Winking smile lingerie…

WOAHAHAHAHAHA!!

IMG_0310IMG_0311IMG_0312IMG_0314

It was so perfect, I absolutely loved her reaction! If only I had video taped it!

~*~*~*~*~*~

And here is, the beautiful Ms. Remie with her large mound of gifts and goodies!

IMG_0322

She stocked up quite well! She got Ninjas, Crock-Pots, fire pits, pictures frames, a huge basket full of every kitchen goodie you could ever think of, and tons and tons of other amazing, useful things!!

~*~*~*~*~

The shower had a great turn out and I couldn’t have been happier!

I’m so glad I had Amber and Erin there with me to pull this entire shower together, as they both did such a wonderful job, and without them it never would have happened! I can’t wait for the wedding!

~*~*~*~*~

And, at the end of the day, all the hard work and running around and planning was worth it when you get a message like this! In love

 photo(3)

Mission Accomplished!

~*~*~*~*~*~

Here are a few cute pictures from after the party was over…

Mr. Cameron, enjoying some cake alone outside, being adorable and shy when I tried to snap a picture of him. (We had to get his daddy to take the last photo, he kept hiding behind his arm when I tried. hehe! So cute!)

IMG_0332IMG_0333IMG_0336

And I was trying to sneak a picture of Amber having a moment with all of her kiddies, but then I just got off my booty and had them all look at me. :)

Love this family! They’re all so awesome.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries!

I was making these tasty treats Saturday night for Remie’s wedding shower Sunday afternoon!

Here’s a quick How To:

You start with a double boiler type setup. I just use 2 pots, one slightly bigger than the other, and fill the lower pot with boiling water (or rather regular water that you bring to a boil while on the stove). The purpose being to not burn the chocolate at the bottom of the pot.

In the smaller pot you put:

-one bag of semi-sweet chocolate morsels (I don’t use any particular brand)

-a pinch of salt

-and a splash of heavy whipping cream (a actually used soy milk for these because I didn’t have any cream in my house. They came out just as tasty! The only difference I noticed was the chocolate coating didn’t look like as shiny as it usually does. It was a bit milky looking, but it worked perfectly!)

IMG_2824

You stir this up on medium-low heat until the mixture is melted and smooth!

This is usually enough chocolate to dip 2 entire cartoons of strawberries (+ some left over, if you want to try dipping other things, like cookies or granola bars Winking smile).

*TIP: After washing your strawberries, dry them off with a paper towel! The chocolate sticks much better on a dry strawberry then on a wet one!

DIP! DUNK! POUR! LICK! AND TASTE TEST UNTIL YOUR HEARTS CONTENT!!

IMG_2835IMG_2836

And that’s basically it! You can eat them right then, with the warm gooey chocolate covering, or place them on trays in the fridge for at least an hour for the cool hard coating! Both are delish!!

I trayed these up and left them in my fridge over night! When it was about ready to head to the shower I pulled them off of the pans and placed each one in individual cupcake papers for a cute little decorating effect.

IMG_2842

I really think everyone enjoyed them! And it seems people were quite impressed when they found out I made them myself. Go me! Party smile

So, that’s it!! I suggest testing this out yourself, ASAP!!! Its so much fun! Especially with buddies!
