I SIGNED UP FOR THIS! Yay!
So, I stumbled upon this GroupOn and after a few days of going back and forth in my mind about whether or not I wanted to throw down the money, I decided that this might just be the extra little push I need to keep me on track. So! Here it is! I’ll keep you posted on how things are going! I’m so excited! Because the open hours are not as widely available as most gyms, I’m going to have to either get there when they open at 7am and hit the gym for an hour before I have to shower down and clean up for work. Either that or I’ll have to go straight there from work and squeeze in a work out before they close at 7pm. They are open on Saturdays but by appointment only so I will be scheduling some of those I’m sure. But because this is so restricted on the times I’m able to go I‘m hoping it’ll get me to fall into a pattern. Either same time in the morning or same time in the evening. No excuses! I go or I miss it. No putting it off! Right? I hope this works!
Or rather IT WILL WORK!! That’s how I have to approach this! Right?!
So this GroupOn includes 30 days of membership with 3 days a week of personal training, also nutrition counseling and a personalized plan. Also a journal to keep track of how I’m doing! Plus a T-shirt as a bonus!! WooHoo! Sounds fun!! Wish me luck!!!
Woke up this morning around 6:30am, headed out the door for a full speed run with my two pups. Pooped them out in about 15 mins. Dropped them off and grabbed my youngest bro, Timothy. We continued to jog and run (and even sprinted for a quick moment) up and down each block. Made it to the pool area where I jumped in and swap laps while timothy continued jogging. GREAT moring!! Feel awesome!
Was in a contemplative mood. Decided to go for a jog. It was about 9pm and it was about 94 degrees outside. felt amazing. Did several laps around my block and then ran to the pool. Took off the tennis shoes and hopped in. I swam, I don’t know how many laps, until my heart was pounding and my body was whooped. Not sure how long I was there. but hopped back out and walked the whole way home to cool off. When your brain wont stop thinking… about the future and expectations and doubts, a great way to quiet it is getting your booty moving. What better way to get your head focused on the present. So sososososoooooo exhausted though. bed time. thank you body! I promise to keep treating you better than I have been.
After my morning motorcycle ride it was still early enough in the day to fit in the 3 mile lake front jog I’ve been meaning to do. In Louisiana, especially lately, if you don’t get outdoors before 9am you’re going to be sweating your ass off and suffocating in the thick humid air… SO! Having woken before 6am and finishing up the motorcycle trip in about an hour and a half I was excited to find it just early enough to fit in that semi-bearable jog by the lake! Here are a few pictures I took along the way. I’m enjoying testing out my new camera!
I’m still trying to get used to lighting and angles and other such important photography concepts to know while shooting, but these came out decent for just pointing and shooting.
I enjoyed the jog, and hopefully if I keep jogging more frequently I’ll be able to run longer and take fewer breaks, but I think I did decent considering the heat! It’s a 3 mile round trip up and down the lake front not including all of the curves in the pathways. I’m thinking I jogged half the time and walked the other, alternating between the two every few minutes. It would have been more jogging, but every time the shaded areas disappeared it was to difficult to keep running for much longer. Next time I’ll try again a bit earlier.
I decided to get off my butt and run this evening. Its been rainy weather so it’s significatly cooler than it has been outside, but its still super humid. Do-able! I harnessed up my pups and headed out the door. It was about 8:45 so the sun was down and there were very little cars on the road. I let the pups set the pace (which was full speed!!) since they hadn’t been able to run in so long. We went around a huge lap of the back 3rd of the neighborhood, stopping only once or twice for pee breaks. I was super impressed! All three of us kept the pace the whole time.
I dropped the pups off and headed out for the remainder of my run. I went up and down each and every street and back again, keeping a running/jogging pace 2/3rds of the time. I was proud of myself and happy to get some exercise in. Can’t wait to go again tomorrow night! I’m thinking Sat morning I’m going to hit up the lake front for a 3 mile jog really early in the morning. I really want to make that happen.

Day number 2 of working out! I got home at 9:15ish from having dinner and drinks with a buddy. Mexican and Margarita Night! Even though this time I opted for a Skinny Bitch instead (54 vs 400+ calories/drink!! Yikes! I’ll take the less tasty, but just as fun! ).
When I walked in my front door afterward I immediately geared up and made myself a Performance Optimizer shake! I didn’t want to give myself one moment to think up a single excuse to not run. I was even pumping myself up about going for a jog outside in the drizzle. how fun! jogging in the rain! Would make me feel like a kid again.
I laced up my shoes and opened the door only to find it had started pouring down, lightening and all! Shucks! Fudge nuggets! Bananas!!! Oh well, I turned on my heels and headed directly for the treadmill! Pumped up the jams (Nicki Minaj) and hopped on!
20 mins on the treadmill. varying speeds of 3/5/6 mph on a 7 incline for the first 15 mins and then a speed walk at 3mph (same incline) for the last 5 mins. 2k steps, 1.2 miles total, 168 cals were the stats.
have to start somewhere, right?!

Its 10pm and I just got finished with a run. I decided that I need to start recording all of my workouts here where I can see them. Hopefully sharing this information will keep me on track and encourage me to keep at it.
-20 minute jog/walk/sprint around the neighborhood, alternating between the 3 at the corners of each block
Before I began today’s workout I drank a single serving of Vega’s Performance Optimizer. I was pleasantly surprised! the drink worked almost immediately, giving me the boost of energy I needed to get my booty off of this computer and onto the pavement. It was a nice night compared to the sweltering daytime temperatures lately. it rained today so it most definitely helped cool the night a bit. Because I was taking the run outdoors I decided to keep the running to a minimum since the last 2 times I ran outdoors I managed to injure myself (stupid left ankle!). Hopefully with the help of my new running shoes I can manage to keep at this for more than a week or two. I know I can do this!
*Today I am grateful for cool nights, inspiring success stories, running water, cute workout gear, and AC in Louisiana!
Check it out! WarriorDash.com <– AWESOME!!!
