I Dream of Radiance–Rachel’s Vision Board

I’ve been busy tonight, cutting and pasting and smiling and jamming out to the music. I’ve been working on my vision board, putting my dreams and goals out there in a visual, so I can see and remind myself daily that I want something more, and I can work towards it. Thought I’d share.

Check out my work space. And this is after I tidied up a bit. Oh, the craziness that is creativity. Love it!

IMG_3704

But before I share the finished piece, take a look at this photo I took at work today. This is currently what I have to look at on my desk. Its perfect.

IMG_3682Isn’t this Beautiful! Gosh, I love the colors, and how vibrant, and delicate. Oranges, purples, and yellows together are my favorite at the moment.

So, here’s what I’ve been up to tonight. I cut out pieces from magazines of things that inspire me and mean something to me and put them together in a collage, so I have something to reflect my dreams, all in one place, that I can see often. I know its hard to see what’s going on because everything is not very clear, but I swear I tried a million times and this was the clearest shot. The glare was terrible, and I moved it all over the house, with the same problem no matter where I went.

Here is my finished piece. Let me explain some of it a bit IMG_3713

This is a sweet little reflection of many of my dreams. As you can see, I dream of simplicity, and beauty and peacefulness, surrounded in nature. I dream of escape. Quietness, and tuning out. I dream of health, and radiance, and sunshine… and reflection and being close to nature. I dream of playing and adventure, movement, and discovery. I want to have a place of peace. A place for reflection and gratitude.

The only thing its missing, is the love part. I couldn’t find a picture beautiful enough to describe the type of intensity and passion in a perfect partner.

I left a space… I know I’ll find something…

I was working through a workbook on success and reaching goals, and one of the exercises had us dream our most outrageous dream, one that seems almost  impossible to achieve. After much reflection and lots of free flowing ideas on paper, my ultimate dream emerged. It had me giggle, because it was so simple, but also so far away, huge, but possible. It wasn’t the dream of huge mansions and tons of money with fancy cars and yachts. It was so much more than that.

I dream of a sanctuary. I want land, with untamed forest and wildness. I want to have the most beautiful gardens with fresh nurturing fruits and vegetables. flowers and bees and butterflies. Life. I want to have a place for people to come together and enjoy the gardens and share. I want to have different structures, to have courses in health, on how to nurture your body properly through food, and how to grow your own food. I want to have yoga and Thai chi classes and meditation groups.  I want to have an animal sanctuary. for all the animals that have been abused and forgotten. I want a place where people and animals can just be. and have resect for one another, all life is precious. I want to share, with others, that there is so much more to gain through simplicity…

I have pages and pages of how I vision it all in my head.

In love

I get carried away sometimes.

I’ll leave it at this, for now, I could go on forever… Hope that wasn’t weird…

Anyway, I still need to post on the new recipe I have. And I’m soooo tired! I actually got on here to share the recipe, but then, this all came out instead. Whoops. Oh well, I’ll post real quick. It’s a dish that everyone loves, and we are so due for a recipe. So, off to post number 2, real quick before I pass out sitting at my kitchen table.

Love you guys! Beauty beauty everywhere, huh?! Winking smile  How about this weather change? It’s almost snuggle weather. Good thing I have a fluffy furry little puppy to share some snuggles with.

Dad’s Birthday–New Orleans

It is my dad’s birthday today and we decided to celebrate it in New Orleans! My mom, dad, Aunt Tina, and I grabbed our cameras and hit the Quarter – tourist style, snapping shots of any and everything beautiful.

We asked my dad if they took the Crawfish Etouffee off the bill (we had to send it back because it was not so good – it was super bland, but everything else was Fantastic! especially the Bread Pudding!! Ahh!!) and he looks at the bill and says “Yup, they only charged me for 2 Jerks and a Mother.” Which had us all bust out laughing! He was talking about the 2 Jerk Salmons and the Mother Seafood Plate, but man, it came out so funny and we couldn’t stop laughing. Good times! Rolling on the floor laughing And look at the bread pudding!! Best I’ve ever had!

The End! We had a lot of fun today. We were out walking the Quarter for 6 hours! I had to get this post out because I knew if I didn’t post now it would never happen. (Been. SO. Busy!) So, I just went for letting the pictures do the work. I love my family. And I love this blog too, soooooo… Yes, I’ll try and find more time.

Females in Training–Day 3 + Meditation

Hey Everyone! Just got back from my 1st group meditation, and I’m about to snuggle up with some popcorn and the Saints game! WHO DAT! Ha! That’s so funny because I’m definitely not a football fan, but tonight I clicked it on for a sec and couldn’t peel myself away. Good stuff so far!

My meditation experience tonight was pretty amazing. There were only 2 other people in the group tonight, Linda and Bridget, but we enjoyed each others company so much that we wound  staying to about 8pm (it started at 6:30pm and was only suppose to last 45mins). Both Bridget and Linda were really sweet and open to me being a beginner, as I’ve only done it a handful of times. They explained everything really well, and as we started the 20 minute meditation I felt very comfortable and relaxed in their presence.

Meditation

The room was cozy with dim lights, a nice smell, and had calming music playing along with a small water fountain flowing. Linda walked us through a 2 minute body scan as we each sat on our meditation pillows, which she provided for us. After that we had 20 minutes to just be in our own mind and focus on our breathe and concentrate on a mantra, or a 2-3 syllable repetitious saying. The idea is to clear your mind of all the scattered self talk of the day and focus on relaxing our body and tuning into the self. It was a great experience. When it was over, I felt so relaxed. Good stuff! I signed up for the rest of the 6 week program.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

So, let me get into the PHYSICAL training for the day. I went to the gym around 3pm so I could squeeze in the work out and the meditation today. I had a short day of work today

Here’s my Journal Entry for the day.

IMG_3534[1]IMG_3535[1]

So today, Lauren started me with the 10 min treadmill warm up.

The focus for the day was upper-body. She had me working on this really neat machine called the TRX(?), which reminded me of an adult jungle gym.

IMG_3525[1]

I started out with the TRX Squat. This is where you grab the front hanging handles and plant your feet on the ground, hip with apart, leeeeeeeean way back, and then start the squats… nice and slow, pushing your booty out really far and pulling your abs in tight. On the way up you HOP! Yup, HOP! And do this again and again following the 40 second work, 20 second rest routine, all the way through, repeating 8 times.

Next move she had me do is called the Hamstring Curl, where she lowers the handles to 5 inches above the floor, you lie on the ground and place your ankles in the handles. You lift your pelvis way up in the air and hold it there, next you pull your heels in towards your butt, and then slowly back away again. The entire time your feet are lifted off the ground. This one was tough, but fun. Had the heart pumping big time.

Then, was the foot ball runs. You stand, hip with apart, and then squat down half way. When the guys on the speaker says “go” you hall ass, running as fast as you can in place, while squatting down. You don’t stop until he says stop! Talk about cardio!

The TRX Row was next, where you grab the handles, facing the machine, plant your feet on the ground and lean all the way back. from there you start rowing. You slowly pull your body toward the machine, keeping your elbows squeezed in against you sides. Abs Tight! Then back down, fully extended. Repeat! This one I enjoyed!

IMG_3527[1]IMG_3528[1]

(see the girl in the mirror doing the plank behind me?! You’re supposed to hold that position for as long as you can. Bet she was sweating!) Winking smile

Next was the Chess Press, where I flipped over, facing away from the machine and leaning all the way forward, keeping my body straight as a board. Basically the exact opposite position. This time I did a push up sort of move, but in the air, using my body weight. Tough Tough Tough, but of so good when I finished those sets.

After that, The Heisman Hop! Like the football players do! Stand with feet wide apart, knees bent, in a semi squat, and jump from side to side, getting some cardio in and some muscle work on the side abs (what are they called again, I forget?).

IMG_3526[1]

Second to last I had the TRX Rear Delt Fly. I flip over facing the machine again, same position leaning back, but this time I pull both arms out to the side in opposite directions and squeeze my shoulder blades in (think of the positioning as your arms starting out straight in front and then slowly spreading them out to make a cross, all against your body weight). Youch!

Lastly, she had me flip over one more time, to the opposite position, leaning forward, but this time slowly try and raise my hands high above my head and back forward and down again. Hard move to do, but I kept telling myself “Make it count! Almost done! Last set of moves! You can do it!” And I made it! All the way through!

Sorry for the blur on the above photo! Didn’t realize the photo came out like that, but I wanted to show you the routine and also that Lauren named it Sexy Saint Workout. I see why she chose some of those workouts for the day! I’ve seen those foot ball players doing those runs and hops before! Winking smile

I wasn’t done just yet! Still had cardio! The intervals for the day was keep a speed of 3.5-3.8 and start at incline 5. As each minute passed, up the incline by one (6, 7, 8… etc.) until you reach 10. After 10, start back over again at 5 and work your way up again. Then do the cool down by walking it out for 10 minutes on 0 incline and 2.8 speed. I liked the workout. I felt like I was climbing/speed-walking up a mountain without being able to stop. It had my heart pumping. I checked my heart rate and it was at 158! Yowza!

Overall, I had an excellent 2nd experience with physical training! The motivation is up and I know I’m going to get good results. Can’t wait for tomorrows training!

Hope the work out explanations aren’t too boring for you, but I like to have a nice description just incase I ever want to go back and do these routines on my own!

Have a great evening everyone!! Back to focusing on the game! Whoop Whoop!

I’ve Been in Colorado!

I have much to fill you in on, but I’ve been enjoying my vacation in Fort Collins, CO! SO! Many posts to come! A few topics being my 26th Birthday Shenanigans, The New Orleans Red Dress Run, and the amazing that is Colorado! Here is a little teaser! :) IMG_1356IMG_1747

Life Through the Lens of My iPhone

Good morning! (Or evening, I suppose!) I looked through my iPhone and realized that I had a lot of neat photos and experiences that I’d like to note and remember for my future enjoyment. Plus, if you enjoy them too, that’s a lovely bonus! Winking smile

Here goes: Life though my iPhone as of late!

IMG_2971

This is one of my clients from work! SHE IS SO AWESOME! Always smiling, always happy, and I LOVE when she comes in to visit! She had just gotten her brand new Jeep Wrangler (My dream car at the moment!) and I was so excited for her I told her I had to get a pic of her next to her sweet new ride!! This woman is so awesome! I Swear she’s my soul sister! I love her style, I love her spirit, and we have so much in common!! Plus she’s a long time vegetarian! Bonus!

She’s so rockin’!

IMG_2973

This is a photo of me hangin’ outside on side of the building I work in! I take my 30 minute lunch break out here on the reg to try and escape the phones and breathe some fresh air! I love soaking in those rays! I guess I was trying to take a sexy photo of my dress and  boots (look at those knees, man those are smokin’ hahaa! What was I thinking?!)! I wish I have gotten the beautiful tree I sit under and the tiny cross bridge they have over the ditch…

IMG_2990

I’ve been blogging a lot lately and my new fav place to do it is at random coffee shops and bookstores. Its usually quiet enough with some relaxing music and fabulous aromas. I had a gift card for $25 worth of Starbucks so its been my go-to lately, but I’m also a fan on PJ’s (It’s the closest to my house that stays open until 10pm). Must have taken a quickie pic!

IMG_3009This is a snapshot of a scene from one of my favorite movies, . I love everything about this movie! The imagery is incredible and every time I watch this movie I am memorized by the intensity and the beauty. I stumbled across this particular photo and saved it on my iPhone. Every time I see it, I get this feeling in my gut. Can you imagine, having that incredible cosmic connection? This bond between 2 people? Can’t you just feel the powerful vibration coming from this scene? I know its just a movie, but what is represents, is just… wow… (::Blush:: Can you tell I’m one of those hopeless romantic types? hehe! I just love to dream about this mushy gushy love stuff!)

IMG_3022

So I bought this “Bliss in a Box: Weekend Retreat” almost 3 years ago and had yet to actually do it! I stumbled upon it while organizing my massive book collection and decided its about time I give it a go. IT WAS AMAZING!! Yoga, Meditation, Silence, Contemplation, Reflection, and Pure Healthy Eating! Amazing weekend! I’ll elaborate on it more a bit later (in another post, I hope).

IMG_3046

The Dirty Dozen and The Clean Fifteen!! This is a snapshot from my favorite book at the moment, Crazy Sexy Diet, on the 12 fruits and veggies to avoid unless organic (due to the high amounts of pesticides and chemical contamination) and the 15 fruits and veggies that are ok to purchase conventional if you can’t find organic (as very little chemicals and pesticides are used). For 3 days straight I was singing out the Dirty Dozen trying to get those suckers memorized! It was actually pretty easy! I just have to remember to think about it while I’m grocery shopping, which isn’t always so easy…

Just LOOK how adorable my mom can be!

IMG_3058IMG_3059

Seriously, how can this NOT make your day instantly sun-shiny and bright. This was just SO cute I have to screen shot the convo and send it to a few friends to make their day a little better.

IMG_3065

This is a shot of my new gorgeous plants all wilted and sad!! Apparently if you don’t water your flowers for 5 days in LA weather, they get quite sad. Lol!! BUT I watered them and within a few hours they were bright and happy and radiating love bubbles for the world to enjoy!! Ahh! the beauty of Mother Nature!

IMG_3075

This is just a picture of me playing around with new tiny tat ideas. This says “ily” which represents: I Love You. I’m a huge fan of showing love for yourself and sometimes a little reminder can go a long way. If you don’t love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to fully love and appreciate you..? Its not like other people just fill in the missing love gaps. Like I told a friend the other day “You are a complete, whole person, and you don’t need anyone to complete you. You love yourself fully then other people that love you are bonus! Cup over flowing kinda thing! You fill your own cup and everything thing else that people add too it just oozes out over the brim, spilling happiness over-flowage for everyone else to enjoy! “Oh, I’m sorry, did my love over flow just spill on you? Oh, Whoops! Oh, is that some of my happiness splashing on you?! Oh man! Whoops again!”  Winking smile hehehehe, I’m such a love nerd.

IMG_3089

That’s Dita. My cousin won tickets to her show here in New Orleans… If you don’t know who she is, just look her up! She’s amazing. She does burlesque shows, but they are more retro and old schooly with a tiny bit of a modern edge. She’s very tasteful in her art. And very very famous! Really, Look her up! You wont be disappointed. She’s beautiful.

Apparently I missed a good show!

IMG_3102

I went blueberry picking one last time for the season! One gallon on Organic blueberries, $10! You pick your own! Amazing! I went with my mom and dad! They had a really great time as well! And there is nothing like a fresh, right off the bush, blueberry! OMG Fantastic!

And lastly! Primping for Remie’s wedding! That’s a photo of my practicing my hair for Remie’s big day! The next 2 shots are from Remie, Erin and I going to get our mani/pedis done. Can you believe both Erin and I have never had a pedicure!? 25 years old, and never had one! The employees couldn’t believe that either. It was fabulous!!

IMG_3129IMG_3130IMG_3134

Well, That’s it for now! Life through the lens of my iPhone! Hope you enjoyed it!! I had fun! Happy Love Bubbles to You!!

Today I am Thankful for…

There is a special person in my life that I want to recognize here in this personal space of mine, that I feel deserves a shout out because of all the amazing accomplishments he’s achieved. He’s such a beautiful soul and an amazing ball of radiant energy and we have shared many many hours of laughter and happiness, especially in the past couple of weeks. He’s brought an immense amount of joy into my life and I’m so proud of all his effort and hard work. I love this person dearly.

IMG_0877

I don’t think I’ve met anyone with a kinder heart and with a greater gift of bringing joy to so many others. He’s been my best friend for the past four years, and in those years I have grown so much with the help of his constant support and encouragement. He’s never passed judgment with all of the absolute crazy things I have done and ideas that I have had.

His dedication to goals are admirable and I believe that he will accomplish all that he sets his mind too. I’m so proud of him for choosing to make such a drastic change in his life, including eating more healthfully, cooperating meditation and yoga into his routine, and enjoying the beauty in simplicity. I’m proud of the way he has been able to take something he loves so much and put it to the side, to carve out time and put effort into trying something so foreign to him, and embrace it with open arms.IMG_0896

He has taken the meaning of commitment to another level by relying on his ability to create his own personally compatible concoctions, like wheat blueberry pancakes, and even taking that extra little step to purchase the cruelty free butter alternative (::the little things mean so much::)! AND! By also taking note of recipes that he can easily incorporate into his own life with little distress or frustration. What a smart cookie!

IMG_3053IMG_3054IMG_3055

He is an excellent cook and is unafraid of trying something new and completely outside of his comfort zone. I’ve introduced him to every foreign food I could possibly get my hands on and he accepts the experience happily and with great curiosity and excitement. He jumps into experimenting with unique and strangely foreign ideas as if fear was a concept never incorporated into his life and never introduced to his vocabulary. This can be said with everything he has ever attempted, as he takes life head on and never gives himself the option to fail. From sports to computers and technology he has always been on top of his game and far exceeding everyone’s expectations.

He succeeds in everything he’s ever chosen to do and I don’t have a smidgen of doubt that he will accomplish everything he wishes to achieve.

IMG_0956IMG_0960

I’ve managed to go into a little bit of a rant here, but I really believe in this person and I know he can stick to his goals of changing his life in a healthier and kinder direction. He means the world to me. I’m so proud of him, especially with all the effort he’s been putting into our personal relationship lately.

 IMG_0884IMG_3031IMG_0875IMG_0932IMG_0919IMG_0916IMG_0886IMG_0914

I miss him when he’s gone (and so do his pups!). I love having him around to share water in glass jars with neat straws, or to grow wheatgrass with (or rather helping to fix my errors), and also for picking new plants and hammocks to help me have a more relaxing and enjoyable outside space. I love conducting symphonies with him in his car, and having him laugh at me (while I continue to conduct my orchestra while everyone at the 4-way stop light watches and wonders what is going on with the crazy girl in the car, hehe! Fun!). I love that he laughs at my craziness and thinks it’s a remarkable and quite desirable quality rather than an slightly annoying or immature. I love that we can crank up singing lessons in the car and belt it all out at the top of our lungs and with all our breath and energy and still think the other is the coolest kid on the block! I love that we can play! Always play! As play is so important in my life. And so is he.

I cant imagine my life if I had never met this wonderful being. I’m sure that I wouldn’t be the person that I am today, the person I’ve finally learned to love and accept, because I had someone so loving and accepting to show me that it was ok to be me.

Thank you so much, Daniel, for being exactly who you are and for loving me for exactly who I am and for helping me bloom.

 IMG_0217

I love you more than words could ever express.

Early Morning, Greet the Sun!

I greeted the morning a bit earlier today as I woke up around 6:15am. I’ve been trying to wake up a bit earlier each morning so the pups and I can enjoy some outside time together before it gets too hot.

photo(10)

Its so refreshing to be out doors before everyone is ridding around and making noises and commotion. While my girls pranced and played around in the grass I watched and listened to the sounds the morning had to offer. I never realized how many birds were in my area. We have no trees in my neighborhood so its rare that I actually see a bird, but this morning I could hear many of them. It was such a peaceful and soothing moment to sit there hearing their song and enjoying the morning with the sun barely lighting the sky.

After a moment of reflection and a few more moments of stretching and breathing exercises, I turned my attention to the 2 cute pups playing tug-o-war over a long strand of grass. I tried over and over again to get a decent photo of them playing but it seems my camera phone only wanted to capture funny faces and blurry backs of heads. (Molly makes the funniest faces while pulling and eating grass!)

IMG_2699IMG_2634IMG_2682

photo(8)IMG_2624IMG_2667

I hung out a bit breathing in the morning air and relaxing with my Yoga Journal magazine. Because I don’t have a back fence I sometimes wonder what the neighbors think of me… I’m always outside stretching my arms and shoulders and doing different yoga poses in the grass. That, or hooping it up dancing to a blaring radio belting out the India Arie song Video!

::Some times I shave my legs and sometimes I don’t!

Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I wont! Rolling on the floor laughing

But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen!::

Great song, huh?! Love it! It would probably be my theme song, if I had one! hehe!

I would bet that I’m referred to as that crazy backyard hooping, yoga, grass laying, book reading hippy girl in the neighborhood. LOL! I’ll take that title with a smile. Rainbow

Or maybe they don’t even notice me… Its actually pretty rare that I see anyone else outside at all. Hmmm…

photo(6)photo(5)

My alarm finally went off around 7:50am letting me know I had 30 minutes to make some breakfast, feed the pups, and get dressed for work. I made my favorite breakfast: organic oats! And spruced them up with organic blueberries, hemp seeds, cinnamon, stevia, chia seeds, and sun butter (made from sunflower seeds, yum!). It is delicious and filling and gives me energy to take on my mornings like a lioness!! ROAR!

photo(11)

WELL, Off to work I go!

MEGA HUGS FOR YOU!! IF YOURE READING THIS, ITS BECAUSE YOU’RE AWESOME! (or you love me just a little bit…) Winking smile

*This morning I’m grateful for the lovely bird symphony I was fortunate enough to hear, for having such nutritious foods so easily available to me, and for having a couple hours of free time before work to show my puppies and myself some much deserved lovin’ and appreciation.

Timothy’s 19th and Daniel’s Farewell

June 21st, 2011

So, I have 3 brothers… One was moving to Colorado in less that 48 hours, one was turning 19, and the other was running late (and actually never made it)… We all had decided to get together and meet at The Chimes restaurant to celebrate Timothy’s birthday and have a family dinner before the big move.

Daniel, Timothy and I showed up a bit early to try and hold a table and grab a drink while we waited for the others to arrive. I had attempted to get a decent photo of Daniel and Timothy, but one of them was either looking away, or making a goofy face, or not smiling…

BUT I was finally able to sneak in a nice one. Open-mouthed smile

IMG_2551IMG_2552IMG_2553IMG_2554

They are both such handsome young fellows, are they?! In love

IMG_2556IMG_2558IMG_2560

Since they had opened up the Covington location I’d heard over and over again how nice this place was. I’m a Chimes veteran since the original was right on my college campus at LSU. So, I was really stoked to come see what they did with the newest location!

IMG_2565IMG_2568

My parents showed up and there were so many smiles and happy faces! I can’t remember the last time we all got together with just the family and had a nice dinner out. Pure joy!

IMG_2562

The Chimes is a really neat place. They have an extensive selection of beers from around the world and a Louisiana influenced menu. I decided to try a Dark Side of the Moon and I believe Daniel ordered a Dark and Tan. Both were tasty! We also got a Spinach Artichoke dish to start with fried bowties for dipping! They wiped that out in 5 minutes! Yowza!

IMG_2567IMG_2573IMG_2572IMG_2578

While waiting for our entrees my mom and the bros and I had headed outside to check out the surrounds. The deck was massive!!! And it wasn’t even finished yet! The Chimes was building an entire pathway out through the swamp to the river! Wow, it was just so impressive! I can see why this place is the new big thing in the area!

IMG_2589IMG_2590IMG_2588

We walked back in to our both only to find my dad chowing down on some raw oysters! He was having a grand old time holding down the fort while we were outside. Look at the smile!!

IMG_2597

I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the table loaded down with everyone’s entrees, but they were all fantastic!

I had a wonderful time with my family. I wish my brother Matthew could have made it as that would have been the only other thing that could have made this dinner any better.

Happy Birthday Timothy!! And I’ll miss you Daniel!! I love you all!!!!

Cheers to my favorite family!

Buddy for a Day

Yesterday was an adventure day! My two brothers, Daniel and Timothy, found a little dog running around the lakefront all by his cute little self this morning. He had no collar or tags and after walking up and down the lakefront several times asking around if anyone knew where this pup belonged, they gave in and took him home with them. He was as cute as could be and followed between the two of them where ever they went.

IMG_2541IMG_2545

I left the office early today so around 2pm I headed to my parents house to meet the little dude in person. I was worried because my brothers, not knowing what to do with him, had called the last place that had space for him, which was Animal Services. They had tried the Humane Center and they were packed to the brim. Having heard stories about Animals Services 72 hour hold policy had me panicking and rushing to find a better solution. My brother Daniel who had found him was moving to Colorado in less then 48 hours and already had 2 pups of his own, one being very territorial, couldn’t take him. Timothy, my other brother lives at home with my parents and had no choice in the matter. And I have 2 pups of my own that are also pretty protective of their space.

I figured I’d try Facebook to try and find a foster home for him while we tried to find his family. Hey why not?! You never know!

photo(2)

I had quite a few responses relatively fast!

After chatting back and forth with a friend that I hadn’t seen since high school, I had a complete plan to take the little guy to the opposite side of the lake to Metairie to meet Erika at the end of the causeway so she could take him to her home in New Orleans.

Having 2 hours or so to go before the meet up time I figured it would be a good idea to stop in at the vet nearby and check out what the little bumps on his nose and body might be. Erika has 2 pups also so I wanted to make sure he wouldn’t be spreading cooties or anything. Also, I wanted to check and see if he had an ID chip in his shoulder! I doubted it as most pets I’ve known have never had one, but just maybe we’d be lucky!

My brother and I hopped into the car and headed to the vet down the street. On the way, we chatted about possible names for him. I kept saying, “Mmmmmm… Merv, Marvin, Murphey!! Kino, Kiley….. Nah, he looks like and M name!! Mmmmmmmmmelvin! Hmmm, this is tough!” LOL! Erika said she had already decided on Willie! Hehe! Smile with tongue out

When we pulled up, we explained the situation and the ladies there were more than happy to check for a chip. After scanning over his back and shoulders a bit we started to lose hope, when out of nowhere, on a second pass over the little transmitter thing picked something up! YAAAY!!

We were ecstatic!!!! We could take this little guy home to his family!!! The lady called around a bit and finally got the story. The owners were in Italy and the house sitter hadn’t realized that he had gotten out! There were 2 other pups, but it seems Mickey (I knew he looked like an M name!) was the only one that had snuck out somehow! I was so happy! I couldn’t imagine coming home from vacation to find either of my pups missing. So, I’m so glad we were able to return him home!!!! What a perfect ending!! SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

P.S. – the little bumps on him were… WARTS! Eeeeeewwwwww!!! LOL!! He had a little wrap on his back leg that we had been worried about, turns out he had just had one of warts burned off recently! HAHA! How funny!

Declare! And Buddha High-Fives!

Late last night, somewhere in the middle of reading Alicia Silverstone’s book The Kind Diet, a light bulb went off in my head. I was in the middle of a paragraph about all of the vegan alternatives there are out there in the world today, when I had to put my book down and think for a moment. From vegan mayo, ice cream, and butter to vegan hot dogs, beef tips, and chicken nuggets there is nothing that I could think of that I’d really miss or feel deprived of that hadn’t already been made into some sort of animal-free alternative.

I paused a moment and thought about what really was important to me. First I thought about how I borderline obsess over reading about foods and practices that are healthy for my body. I’m constantly incorporating food and activities in my life that make me light up and glow and feel absolutely amazing. Personally, for my body, I know I thrive off of veggies, fruits, and whole foods! They make we feel alive and energetic and fresh. And when I do happen to have cheese or ice cream or any other animal food indulgence, I really don’t feel all that great. My body reacts, and I can feel it… and it never feels good. It actually usually makes me feel pretty gross and heavy and sluggish. So I know through experimenting that my body personally feels better without those products running through my cells.

Not only that but other living creature’s well-beings seem to have an strong impact on my happiness. I enjoy stopping to see the baby cows near my home each day and passing the horses and goats on my way out to work each morning. They are very much just as aware of my presence as I am of theirs and its heartwarming to see the little baby cows prancing around the fields and tilting their heads at me when I stand near the fence. I am very passionate about letting all living beings be a part of my life without any disturbance from me in any way that I can help. I often save spiders and bugs from my home or office and I try my hardest to allow them to just do their thing without me disturbing them or them me. Its actually unbelievably easy to do and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. And every time I stop to help some little bug go on its merry way I imagine that I’d totally be getting a little Buddha high five! And I’d get them often! And it feels good!

Buddha gold star for me!

high five buddha

Anyway, I came to the conclusion not only in my head, but in my heart as well, that I really had no excuses.

I can no longer contribute to any kind of disturbance to personal my flow. This includes, but is not limited to, my physical and mental health and well being, and also my spiritual well being. I just feel my absolute best when I treat everyone and everything with absolute kindness and love, to the best of my ability. The love and happiness just seems to ooze out of me. It radiates! And I love radiance! And Vibrancy! And that loving energy! And its all a result of the same action. Love!

SO: No more animals will be passing through these lips and filtering through these organs. Smile

In the aftermath of all of these thoughts I declared my vegan-cy!

If I put it out there, its more likely to stick right?! Its called holding myself accountable! Winking smile

So, here it is!!! I snap shot the declaration that I made last night and im posting for everyone to see. I AM OFFICIALLY HAPPILY ANIMAL FREE!!!

VEGAN OATH!

*Today I am grateful for acceptance and kindness!! We could all use  little of both! :)
